County Budget Hearings Set for April 30

The Board of County Commissioners for St. Mary’s County will hold a series of public hearings to present information about the Recommended FY2014 Operating and Capital Budget, as well as rescue tax rate increases for the Hollywood and Ridge Volunteer Rescue Squads, and the Constant Yield Tax Rate.Chopticon HS

The hearings will take place on Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at Chopticon High School, 25390 Colton point Road, Morganza, Maryland. Doors will open at 6:00 p.m. with the proceedings beginning at 6:30 p.m. The public is invited to attend and participate. Reasonable accommodations for persons with disabilities should be requested by contacting the Public Information Office at 301-475-4200, extension 1340.

The hearings will be televised live on St. Mary’s County Government TV 95 and taped for rebroadcast. Log on to www.stmarysmd.com or call 301-475-4200, extension 1340 for a schedule. The hearings will also be available for viewing on the county’s website; click on “video” and then view Channel 95 “Live” on the web.

The evening will begin with a presentation of the FY2014 Budget, followed by the hearings in the order shown below:

Citizens wishing to make comments are required to sign in before the hearing begins. Comments will be limited to three minutes per person, five minutes for groups. Written comments can be submitted at the hearing or mailed to:

Comments must be received by May 10, 2013 for consideration during budget work sessions scheduled in May.
