Conference Empowers Administrative Staffers

Administrative professionals are the foundation that allows a company to run smoothly. This year, during Administrative Professionals Week, the College of Southern Maryland is planning a conference that will help administrative professionals gain skills and network with peers. The event is set for 9 am to 3:30 pm April 27, 2016, in the Center for Business and Industry (BI Building) on the La Plata campus at 8730 Mitchell Road.
“We know that administrative professionals are the backbone of any organization and providing a fun professional development day just for them is our goal,” Dr. Dan Mosser, vice president of the division of Continuing Education and Workforce Development, said. “If area employers are looking for a nice way to recognize and reward their administrative assistants, this conference could be it.”
The event will start with breakfast from 8:15 to 8:50 am, then a buffet lunch, along with workshops and a keynote, “Beyond the Basics: The Unstoppable You,” by Jennifer Foxworthy, an award-winning author and motivational speaker. She will discuss topics such as achieving more and improving office communication.
“We are pleased to have Jennifer Foxworthy set the tone for this annual conference,” Mosser said.
Foxworthy founded Inspirationally Speaking LLC as well as the “Unstoppable You” Women’s Conference. She is the host of the television show “Living Unshackled ON Purpose.” Foxworthy is a US Navy veteran with 21 years of service.
Workshops will include “Enhance Your Communication Skills” presented by Foxworthy, “Office Energy” presented by CSM fitness coordinator Jane Pomponio, and “Time Management: It’s All About Balance” presented by Jennifer Andersen, owner of Empower Consulting.
