Commissioners to Meet with School Board & Hold Budget Hearing

St. Mary’s County commissioners and Board of Education will hold a joint meeting at 9am Tuesday, April 14, 2026, in the Chesapeake Building at 41770 Baldridge St. in Leonardtown.
The meeting will feature discussion on the following topics:
- Negotiated Agreements
- Maryland Apprenticeship Program
- Southern Maryland Summit 2026: The Teacher Preparation Pipeline
- Redistricting Summary

Commissioners OK FY27 Recommended Budget for Public Hearing
The county commissioners have approved the fiscal year 2027 recommended budget for public hearing, advancing it for community review and input.
The commissioners will hold the annual budget public hearing to present the recommended budget and receive public comment at 6:30pm Tuesday, April 21, in the Chopticon High School auditorium at 25390 Colton’s Point Road in Morganza.
Doors will open at 5:30pm, and sign-up sheets for those wishing to speak will be available in the school foyer.
Community members are encouraged to attend and share their feedback on the proposed budget. Those wishing to address the commissioners may participate in person or provide feedback via:
