SOLOMONS, MD—Annmarie Sculpture Garden & Arts Center in Solomons celebrates a collaborative summer art project. Participants of all ages are invited to visit the Arts Center through August 31, 2014.

The public art project will be open from 10 am to 4 pm daily, and is included with price of site admission. Everyone is invited to add to the collaborative Summer Public Art Project by drawing, painting, or even doodling on giant swatches of repurposed sailcloth.

The project is entitled: JIBE: Compositions on Sail and was created by Southern Maryland artist Lauren Feusahrens. A recent BFA graduate from Salisbury University, Ms. Feusahrens is the 2014 Artist-In-Residence.

Ms. Feusahrens grew up in a creative family and was exposed to building and making things as well as having a very creative grandmother who inspired her to become an artist. Her love of playing lacrosse at a division 1 school was balanced, but eventually gave way to her drive to become an artist.

Ms. Feusahrens states, “the community project is meant to call people to join in and paint, draw or collage a bit of themselves into the overall work, then to come back and see how it all comes together.”

The name of the project was drawn from the sailing term Jibe, that, “for me captures that moment when someone sailing gets that real feeling of excitement and the adrenaline rush when you come about and then, the sudden calm” if done correctly.

If you return to the Annmarie Sculpture Garden any day between August 2 and October 31, you will see the sail cloths transformed into mazes for the ARTmazing! Exhibit, which will be an interactive outdoor exhibit.
