Bring the Kids for Eco-Exploration of Cats

Cats

Cold weather does not stop us from exploring the ecosystem at Annmarie Sculpture Garden and Art Center. There’s a big difference between house cats and bobcats, and November’s Eco-Exploration will tackle that topic. House cats are not just smaller versions of bobcats. This regular feature at Annmarie is set for 10 to 11 am Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2016.

Come to Annmarie Garden in Solomons and learn from the staff naturalist Hester Burch. Ms. Burch takes young people and their caregivers on a hands-on exploration of the nature world, with different topics and themes every time. The topics are both educational and creative, with plenty of ways for the kids to feed both sides of their brains.

The natural world that surrounds Annmarie Garden is full of amazing things to see and discover. Eco-Explorations are held every month at AMG and Ms. Burch has created several programs that teach children about nature while they have fun, create a craft to take home, and see the world from a different perspective that highlights everything from spiders to ants to bees and much more.

The programs and projects are designed for children in the elementary school ages, but siblings and families are welcome to participate, as well. There is no requirement to register, but if you have a large group coming, be sure to let Ms. Burch know so she can make sure every child is accommodated and that there are plenty of supplies for everyone. Reservations are not required. Admission is free for AMG members; $5 for adults; $4 for members of the military; $3 for youth; and free for children 5 years old and younger. Visit the AMG website, listed above, for more information, or call 410-326-4640.
