Bing is Back for the Holidays

Even Military.com got into recent efforts to revive appreciation for the great crooner, Bing Crosby, the nation’s Number One Performer during the nation’s World War II years, reports Military.com. “People remember Bing’s movie partner Bob Hope for his tours to entertain the troops, but no one did more than Crosby to promote the war effort in the Forties”

Military.com provides links to programs about Mr. Crosby’s legacy as a performer and even the movie trailer to “White Christmas.” That was the movie extravaganza that launched the song, now a traditional holiday favorite. White Christmas “became the biggest record of all time,” wrote Military.com in its “Under the Radar” entertainment blog, “and a poignant reminder of home for millions of troops stationed overseas during World War II.”

Then, as today, “White Christmas” recalls the troops stationed overseas who won’t be home this year for the holidays.

The Leader sends heartfelt wishes to see all service members and their families safely home in the New Year.
