Big Events at Annmarie Next Week

Annmarie Sculpture Garden and Art Center  is helping you get ready for the holidays with several chances to create your own artwork.

Girls Night Out

A Girls Night Out from 6:30 to 9:30 pm Monday, Nov. 2, 2015, in the Clay Studio will offer a chance to make holiday platters just in time for the holidays. This is the first of a two-class series.

Grab your favorite snack and come for a fun night out. Use clay slabs to create large platters with seasonal and holiday themes. Learn the techniques for hand-building and develop your own unique forms, patterns and textures. Cost is $85 for members, $90 for non-members. All students must be at least 21 years of age. All materials are included. Instructor is Sarah Houde.

Glass Bead-Making

Also starting Nov. 2, learn glass bead-making from 6 to 8 pm three Mondays in a row. The last class, on Nov. 16, runs from 6 to 9 pm. Robyn Stayer will teach the art of making glass beads using a Hot Head torch and Moretti glass rods. Students learn glass rods on mandrel bead techniques as well as studio safety. Each student will make several beads of various shapes and decorations including stringer use and application.

Cost is $110 for members, $125 for non-members. All materials are provided

Stackable Rings

On Nov. 1 from 1 to 4 pm, instructor Tricia Hall will teach basic metal jewelry techniques as students make stackable sterling silver rings. Techniques include metalsmithing, torch soldering, and texturizing. Students will create four different rings.

Cost is $40 for members, $45 for non-members. A materials fee of $40 is due to the instructor at the start of class. Each student will receive enough supplies to create four rings. No experience is needed.

At all of these classes, students will learn to make unique items that can used as holiday gifts or kept in your own home.
