Bellis Joins Staff at HSMC
Mike Bellis will be Historic St. Mary’s City’s new director of advancement and communications.
Mr. Bellis brings experience from his recent position as executive director of the Charles Regional Medical Center Foundation, which he has been leading since August 2022. He oversaw fundraising, grant acquisition, and volunteer services for the 99-bed hospital serving Charles County.
He holds an associate’s degree in business administration from the College of Southern Maryland and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland Global Campus.
Before his tenure at Charles Regional, Mr. Bellis held various leadership positions, most notably as assistant director of alumni and annual giving at the College of Southern Maryland and executive director of United Way of Charles County. At United Way, he launched the Community Connections program that provided resources to more than 3,000 families during the COVID-19 pandemic and secured $1.5 million in rental assistance grants.
His efforts culminated in the merger of three organizations to form United Way of Southern Maryland.
He serves as chair for the Housing Authority of St. Mary’s County and is a Maryland Legal Services Corp. board member.
Mr. Bellis is a recognized leader, named a “VIP Under 40” by the Maryland Daily Record in 2020, and a graduate of Leadership Southern Maryland Class of 2019.
He formally joins the staff at HSMC on July 24.
