Award-Winning Drug Control

The Delmarva Foundation for Medical Care (DFMC), the Medicare Quality Improvement Organization for Maryland, awarded a 2011 Delmarva Foundation Medication Reconciliation Excellence Award to Medstar St. Mary’s Hospital. St. Mary’s is one of five hospitals in Maryland to win the award.

“The recipients of the 2011 Excellence award for Medication Reconciliation have successfully helped patients take the right medications at the right time,” said Kulleni Gebreyes, MD, senior vice president with DFMC. “We are proud to recognize and reward [St. Mary’s] efforts to make hospitals and healthcare safer and better for us all.”

The Medication Reconciliation Excellence Award recognizes medication quality improvement and safety initiatives in hospitals throughout the state. In order to receive this award, the hospital must meet specific criteria set by DFMC.

“The Delmarva Medication Reconciliation Excellence award is a step on our hospital’s journey to be a trusted leader in caring for people and advancing health,” said St. Mary’s Vice President Joan Gelrud. “The award once again lets our community know that they can count on St. Mary’s Hospital to provide the right care at the right time in a safe environment.”
