Avoid the Winter Blues at Annmarie

winter blues

Do not let cold weather and winter blues stop you from enjoying the beauty of nature! This month, Annmarie Sculpture Garden and Art Center is offering two great events that take advantage of winter’s unique offerings: the Frozen Day of Play from noon to 4 pm Sunday, Feb. 19, and Eco-Explorations from 10 to 11 am Monday, Feb. 20, 2017.

The Frozen Day of Play is a fun way for families to play and be creative while exploring the wonders of winter and ice. There will be a variety of art projects, pretend play, winter-themed investigations, and much more. Children can get a frosty face painting, find all the right items in a frozen treasure hunt, and enjoy a guided winter walk. Kids of all ages will enjoy this seasonal experience that explores all five senses. The Frozen Day of Play is great way to escape the winter blues and find a way to enjoy the season.

Admission for the Frozen Day of Play is free for members and $4 for non-members. Admission is free for children 4 and younger.

For more information, visit Annmarie’s website, listed above, or call 410-326-4640.

On Monday, Feb. 20, bring the whole family for Eco-Explorations. Hester Burch, Annmarie’s staff naturalist, will take young children and their caregivers on a hands-on exploration of the natural world of Annmarie Garden.

February’s session is all about House cats vs. Bobcats: What are the differences and similarities of domesticated and wild felines? Both kinds of cats are furry, have big pointy ears, and can see well in the dark. But how are they different? Would you want a bobcat in your house? Probably not. But why not?

Kids will get to make a cat toy to take home. All children are invited to bring in natural treasures they have found so they can share them in show and tell.

It’s not necessary to make a reservation for this event, but if you are bringing a large group, contact Annmarie so they can ensure there are enough supplies for everyone.

Annmarie members and children 5 and younger are admitted free. Non-member cost is $5 for adults; $4 for military; $3 for youth.
