The Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International will not be holding a demonstration day at Webster Outlying Field in St. Inigoes to coincide with their Unmanned Systems North America conference as they have in the past.

This year, the conference as moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, rather than Washington, D.C. According to Melanie Hinton, spokeswoman for AUVSI, the association will not hold a demonstration day at all.

The Navy’s Program Executive Office for Strike Weapons and Unmanned Aviation confirmed that there would be no demonstration, but would not comment on whether the event was skipped due to budget restrictions.

In the past, the demonstration day has focused public attention on drone testing and development efforts at Naval Air Station Patuxent River and Webster Field.
