Art Blooms: Fabulous Floral Fantasies July 19-20 Only
SOLOMONS, MD—Art Blooms! only one weekend a year at Annmarie Sculpture Garden & Arts Center. This year Art Blooms: Fabulous Floral Fantasies opens July 19, 2014 and closes July 20, 2014. The exhibit is open from 10 am – 5 pm each day. Admission to the exhibit is included with the price of admission.
Art Blooms is a weekend exhibit held in the Dennis Murray Arts Building. The annual centerpiece of the season’s events at Annmarie Sculpture Garden & Arts Center features the work of more than 30 floral designers from across the region.
Each floral designer invited into Art Blooms! is assigned a work of art currently in the Main Gallery. The designer is challenged to create a floral arrangement inspired by that work of art.
The exhibit the designers are asked to draw inspiration from this year is Beachcomber Art: Seaside Discoveries. How do the sounds, tides, colors, and textures inspire artistic expression? How does the sea affect the content, mood, and execution of works of art? How do artists incorporate these experiences into their art? How do they incorporate the objects they find at the beach into their art?
The results are surprising, beautiful, and provocative. Art Blooms: Fabulous Floral Fantasies is not to be missed and must be caught in this tiny window showcasing the floral designers’ works.
This year marks the fifth year for Art Blooms, the exhibit co-hosted by the Calvert Garden Club and Ann’s Circle of Annmarie Garden.

From Washington DC(about a 60 minute drive): take Route 4 South to Capital Beltway Exit 11 (to Prince Frederick). Continue on 4 South, following signs to Solomons. Left on Dowell Road at Hilton Garden Inn Annmarie is less than 1/4 mile on left. From Baltimore (Beltway I-695): take I-97 (Annapolis) to Route 301 South (Bowie). Continue on 301 to Route 4 and follow signs to Solomons. Left on Dowell Road at Hilton Garden Inn. Annmarie is less than 1/4 mile on left. From Annapolis: follow Route 2 South towards Prince Frederick/Solomons. Left (South) onto Route 2/4 at Sunderland light. Left on Dowell Road at Hilton Garden Inn.
