The Pax River Naval Air Museum held what they hope will be the first annual silent art auction on Thursday. Artists of all ages, including renown local artists  Carolyn Egeli and Mary Lou Troutman, donated their work to help build a stronger Patuxent River Naval Air Museum by participating in the groundbreaking Air and Sea Silent Art Auction.

The backbone of the show though, were the students whose hard work made the auction possible. As the museum works to include the whole Southern Maryland community, students volunteer their time, art and talents to make the art auction possible.

In addition to donating art created specifically for the Air and Sea Silent Art Auction, students from Chesapeake Chamber Orchestra, Great Mills High School Steel Drum Band, and the St. Peter Claver Gospel Choir preformed music during the event. Refreshments were sold by the Sea Scouts as a separate fundraising effort and the Calvert High School JROTC cadets volunteered their time registering and greeting guests.

The museum is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and donations are tax-deductible. The museum is located on Route 235 near Gate 1 of the Patuxent River Naval Air Station.

The Sea Scouts sold refreshments to raise funds for trips, and spoke about who they are and placing in the most recent regatta.
