Annmarie Summer Classes Begin June 5

Art Classes are offered throughout the year at Annmarie Sculpture Garden & Arts Center’s Studio School with opportunities for all ages and skill levels. But June, as summer really opens in the garden’s woodland setting, the adult classes fill up quickly.

 Take a Summer Dip in Watercolor!

Join instructor Mary Blumberg and come aboard! Students will work with beaches, shorelines, boats and anything that floats! Some experience is required. Watercolor paper will be available to purchase at class, but please bring your own paints and brushes.

The 4-class series is held June 5, 12, 19 & 26 from 1:00pm to 4:00pm. The member cost is $125 and the nonmember cost is $140. For additional information, call (410) 326-4640 or email [email protected], or visit our website at www.annmariegarden.org.

 Potter’s Wheel: Exploring Japanese Forms

This 4-session, focused course taught by Ray Bogle will introduce students to Japanese teacup (Yunomi) and teabowl (chawan) forms and how to create them on the potter’s wheel. Details of these forms will be discussed and each student will work to create 8-10 pieces of a specific shape. All pieces will be created with stoneware clay and glazed during the final class.

All materials, including 25 pounds of clay and all glazes, are provided as part of the class. All pieces can be picked up approximately 5 days after the final class. No experience is necessary, although beginners can expect to produce fewer pieces.

From Washington DC(about a 60 minute drive): take Route 4 South to Capital Beltway Exit 11 (to Prince Frederick). Continue on 4 South, following signs to Solomons. Left on Dowell Road at Hilton Garden Inn. Annmarie is less than 1/4 mile on left. From Baltimore (Beltway I-695): take I-97 (Annapolis) to Route 301 South (Bowie). Continue on 301 to Route 4 and follow signs to Solomons. Left on Dowell Road at Hilton Garden Inn. Annmarie is less than 1/4 mile on left. From Annapolis: follow Route 2 South towards Prince Frederick/Solomons. Left (South) onto Route 2/4 at Sunderland light. Left on Dowell Road at Hilton Garden Inn.
