Annmarie Gears Up for ArtsFest

ArtsFest

Artists, vendors, families, volunteers, performers, and many more will converge on Annmarie Sculpture Garden and Art Center on Sept. 17 and 18, 2016, for ArtsFest, the finest art festival in Southern Maryland. The event is open from 10 am to 5 pm each day, and admission is $6 for adults, free for children 11 and younger, and free for members. No pets are allowed at ArtsFest.

ArtsFest is the only festival of its kind in Southern Maryland. The event showcases more than 165 artist booths, 30 performers on two stages, Studio School, activities for kids in the Discovery Tent, and the Zany Zone, great food, wine and beer, and so much more.

Throughout the festival visitors will find street performers like stilt walkers, mimes, living statues, balloon artists, bubble artists, and strolling artists. This fabulous weekend of great shopping and artful activities is scheduled at the perfect time of year, just as it’s time to start looking for holiday gifts.

Guests of all ages can enjoy a variety of creative and free activities at many stations around the garden.

Check out the Discovery Tent in the grassy meadow near the main stage, as well as the Zany Zone, featuring artsy activities appropriate for all ages. Activities this year are inspired by games. Whether it’s travel games, ball games or brain teasers that you love, stop by the tent to make and take your own games to play.

And it’s not just artists who are making an impression at ArtsFest. The food and beverage selection at the event is sure to provide something for everyone. Some options are provided by folks who have been part of Artsfest for years and have become a staple of the event, while some new menu choices are planned this year.

Volunteers are always needed for Artsfest. From directing traffic to assisting with art activities, volunteers of all ages and abilities are needed. If you have come time to volunteer during the event, email [email protected] or call 410-326-4640.

ArtsFest was first established in 1993 and has become one of the top outdoor arts festivals in the mid-Atlantic region. The event brings together some of the country’s most accomplished artists for a weekend of terrific shopping, great music, and delicious food and drinks.

An affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution, Annmarie Garden is off Route 2-4 on Dowell Road  in Solomons, MD. The sculpture garden features a walking path that meanders through the forest past permanent and loaned sculpture, including more than 35 works of art on loan from the Smithsonian and the National Gallery of Art. Annmarie Garden also presents a variety of special events, gallery shows, and public art programs.
