Accolades for St. Mary’s Ryken Seniors

St. Mary’s Ryken High School is proud to announce that in the class of 2015, five students have been named Commended Students in the National Merit Scholarship Program and two students have been named Outstanding Participants in the National Achievement Scholarship Program.
Students earning Commended status are among the top 5% of more than 1.4 million high school students who entered the competition by taking the PSAT (Preliminary SAT)/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. Commended students are Michael Beckman of Great Mills, Maryland; Brandt Potas of Leonardtown, Maryland; Eileen Walsh of Great Mills, Maryland; John Winslow of Hollywood, Maryland; and Alexandra Ye of Great Mills, Maryland.
Chandler Smith of Port Tobacco, Maryland, and Naiyah Thompson of White Plains, Maryland, have been named Outstanding Participants in the National Achievement Scholarship Program. The two students scored in the top 3% of more than 160,000 Black Americans who requested consideration when they took the PSAT (Preliminary SAT)/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.
Earlier this month, senior Lindsay Hanf of Lexington Park, was named a National Merit Semifinalist, meaning she placed in the top 1% of the 1.4 million students.
