Utara to Speak at PMI Luncheon
Christian Utara will be the guest speaker at the February luncheon event hosted by the Project Management Institute Southern Maryland chapter.
The luncheon will be held from 11:30 am to 1 pm Thursday, Feb. 18, 2016, at the Patuxent River Naval Air Station’s River’s Edge Conference Center.
Cost for the luncheon buffet is $15 for Project Management Institute members and $17 for nonmembers.
Online registration will be accepted through Wednesday, Feb. 17, here. Attendees requiring base access must notify [email protected] no later than Friday, Feb. 12. Attendees are encouraged to register early as seating is limited.
Utara is the national director of the rapid capability engineering and integration department of the Naval Air Systems Command. He will speak on program management methodologies and how they apply to aligning structures.
Mr. Utara will discuss how he and his leadership team logically decomposed his department’s requirements across all divisions and then reorganized the department to best support organizational and operational requirements. He will additionally offer insight as to how this effort supported the department’s acquisition strategy.
According to the Project Management Institute’s website, for 2016, the PMI Board of Directors is working hard to build on last year to provide more events and several new offerings, including the PMI Risk Management Professional prep course (PMI-RMP), PMI Agile Certified Practitioner prep course (PMI-ACP), the return of the PMI SoMD Scholarship Golf Tournament, extending the group’s events into all four PMI SoMD counties with a PMP prep course and networking socials, a Bowie Baysox membership night, a philanthropy event (Christmas in April), and an expanded second annual Professional Development Day.
All of these events are in support of the chapter’s mission and objectives to include promoting PMI principles, supporting members’ in attaining and maintaining certifications, and providing educational opportunities to grow and develop as project management professionals.
