Are you looking for meaningful ways to get involved in your community? Whether you’re a teen seeking service hours, an adult looking to give back, or a senior interested in staying active and connected, the Volunteer Expo is the perfect place to discover opportunities that match your interests and skills, while enjoying a variety of fun, family-friendly activities.
The St. Mary’s County Department of Aging & Human Services will host the Volunteer Expo from 9am to 1pm Saturday, August 1, 2026, at the Bay District Volunteer Fire Department at 46900 S. Shangri-La Drive in Lexington Park, MD.
The free community event will connect attendees with local organizations and nonprofit agencies seeking volunteers throughout St. Mary’s County.
Attendees can meet representatives from volunteer organizations, explore opportunities for all ages, and attend presentations by Dr. Deon Littles of the University of Maryland Extension about the benefits of volunteering.
The expo will also feature family-friendly activities, including face painting by Chris Sisk, an RSVP volunteer with the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program, and balloon art by Bagels Balloons and More for children. There will also be line dance classes led by RSVP volunteer activity leaders featuring music by Duncan Deejays.
Food and treats will be available for purchase from Slim Chickens and Mrs. Moo’s Ice Cream Truck.
