This will be the last Morning Coffee column for the foreseeable future.
Since May 2011, Morning Coffee has provided a robust blend of links to news around the internet focused on the Naval Air Station Patuxent River economic community and US military news around the world. We have also included links to news impacting the Mid-Atlantic region, for example, wind farms and their impact on the defense community.
We have not posted opinions of employees or staff of LexLeader. Although we have occasionally posted links to opinions of others (and cited those links as the opinion of the specific author or publication) our intent has always been to link to up-to-date and reliable news articles.
After consideration, and with regret, we have decided to discontinue Morning Coffee until we can again verify the news we present our readers is reliable.
Verification has become increasingly difficult. These difficulties are explained more fully in the April 30, 2026 Morning Coffee which also includes links to the government and military news sources we have relied upon for 15 years.
Below are links to news sources maintained by the Pentagon and the military services. These outlets present the official government press releases, videos, photographs, and the daily list of awarded defense contracts.
Contracts issued each day by the Pentagon can be found Monday through Friday at 5 pm, or shortly thereafter, at https://www.war.gov/News/Contracts/
Defense Visual Information Service provides images, videos, news, graphics, podcasts, publications, and webcasts about all branches of the US military services.
The official guide to US Military Installations provides essential information about installation overviews, check-in procedures and the local community.
