Morning Coffee Off the Burner Indefinitely

Since May 2011, Morning Coffee has provided a robust blend of links to news around the internet focused on the Naval Air Station Patuxent River Morning Coffee logoeconomic community and US military news around the world. We have also included links to news impacting the Mid-Atlantic region, for example, wind farms and their impact on the defense community.

We have not posted opinions of employees or staff of LexLeader. Although we have occasionally posted links to opinions of others (and cited those links as the opinion of the specific author or publication) our intent has always been to link to up-to-date and reliable news articles. This has become increasingly difficult.

After consideration, and with regret, we have decided to discontinue Morning Coffee until we can again verify the reliability of the sources we have depended upon for the past 15 years.

News sources covering the US military, civilian and military employees, federal government employment, and government contracting have diminished. Some, such as Stars and Stripes, have had their editorial autonomy curtailed by the federal government. There are increasing occasions when historically reputable news sources do not agree on the most basic of information, for example, there are now different reports of how many vessels the US military has destroyed for carrying narcoterrorists and of how many people have been killed by those strikes.

Unable to establish which reports are factual, we have decided to take Morning Coffee off the burner until we can again assure our readers that we trust the information links we provide.

The final edition of Morning Coffee will appear Monday, May 4, 2026, and include links to news sources maintained by the Pentagon and the military services. This edition includes links to the news sources Morning Coffee has most relied upon for the past 15 years.

Thank you for being a reader of Morning Coffee. As always, we wish you a good morning, a good cup of java, and good luck.
