Lawmakers Defend Federal Investments for Maryland

Rep. Steny H. Hoyer and other members of Maryland’s congressional delegation met to discuss their efforts to defend federal investments for the state’s priorities and ensure constituents can continue to access essential public services. The meeting came as Congress moves into appropriations season.

Team Maryland is working every day on behalf of federal employees and Maryland families impacted by proposed cuts to Medicaid, SNAP, and other essential services, Congressman Hoyer said.

“Just as we worked to ensure the rebuilding of Francis Scott Key Bridge was fully covered, we are working to protect investments in our state from the Trump administration, and we will continue to advocate for the health and well-being of Marylanders and our nation,” he said.

“Federal Team Maryland has always been laser-focused on delivering for the people of our state. … We’re committed to working together to defend investments for Maryland and to support our federal workers who provide vital services to the American people,” Sen. Chris Van Hollen said.

Other Team Maryland lawmakers are Sen. Angela Alsobrooks and Reps. Kweisi Mfume, Jamie Raskin, Sarah Elfreth, April McClain Delaney, Glenn Ivey, and Johnny Olszewski.
