Rep. Steny H. Hoyer was sworn in for the 119th Congress last week.
“[January 3], I was honored to be sworn in as the congressman from Maryland’s Fifth District,” Rep. Hoyer said. “From rebuilding the Francis Scott Key Bridge to standing up for our federal workers to protecting the historic investments that Democrats have made in the American people, many opportunities and challenges lie ahead. I look forward to facing them alongside Maryland’s congressional delegation – which includes many exciting new members – and the rest of Team Maryland. With their help, I will make further progress to support our state’s military installations, safeguard the health of the Chesapeake Bay, expand our network of Judy Centers, and advance other longstanding priorities.
“Whether through my work as the senior member of the House Appropriations Committee or as chair of Democrats’ Regional Leadership Council, I look forward to helping lead Democrats in our mission to ensure that families, workers, and communities in every corner of the country have the opportunities and resources they need to Make it in America. I will also continue building bipartisan consensus on policies that help Americans get ahead, and I will help hold leaders who fail to put People Over Politics accountable.
The congressman thanked Marylanders of the Fifth District for entrusting him with this responsibility once again.
“They can trust that my lifelong devotion to serving them and their communities will continue these next two years,” he said.
Congressman Hoyer is chair of the Regional Leadership Council.
