St. Mary's Hospital PicnicPosted by MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital
Pax III

The 26th annual National Cancer Survivors’ Day picnic will be held on Sunday, June 2, at 1 p.m. on the grounds of MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital. The event is part of a nationwide celebration of National Cancer Survivors’ Day.

A “survivor” is anyone living with a history of cancer, from the time of diagnosis through the remainder of life, and each year’s picnic honors survivors and their families, friends and healthcare providers.

Dr. Abbie L. Fields, a leader in the field of gynecological cancer, will serve as the keynote speaker. Dr. Fields, a practicing physician at MedStar Washington Hospital Center, will discuss prevention planning for patients who are genetically at risk for developing cancers of the breast, ovary, uterus and colon.

At MedStar Washington Hospital Center, Dr. Fields provides comprehensive care for women diagnosed with a gynecological malignancy. She specializes in robotic/minimally invasive and fertility sparing surgical techniques. Dr. Fields is a board-certified specialist in gynecologic oncology and has written more than 100 publications.

Join us at this year’s picnic — free and open to all — to learn how surviving cancer is all about a positive attitude and living each day to the fullest. For more information, please call 240-434-7247.
