Brittany Cornish and Amy Dickinson have been selected to attend the 2025 Nettie B. Taylor Maryland Library Leadership Institute.

Ms. Cornish is the Charlotte Hall Library branch manager, and Ms. Dickinson is the branch manager at the Leonardtown Library.

“With the growth of digital resources, new ways of experiencing content, artificial intelligence, and new demands for services outside our usual mission, libraries are experiencing a time of great change even as we see great demand for books and traditional programs,” said Michael Blackwell, St. Mary’s County Library director. “We are delighted that Amy and Brittany have this opportunity to help us prepare for a future full of challenge and opportunity with increased knowledge and powerful people skills.”

The Nettie B. Taylor Maryland Library Leadership Institute focuses on self-awareness, self-assessment, and leadership.

Participants develop an understanding of their strengths, acknowledge and understand areas for potential improvement, and deepen their commitment to making positive change in the libraries of the future.

The institute is a week-long program tailored to meet the needs of library workers to develop their confidence in several essential areas of leadership, including communication, advocacy, and emotional intelligence. Selected participants will be a part of a diverse cohort of library workers from different backgrounds and receive mentorship and guidance from experienced library leaders.
