John Bohanan

Former Maryland Delegate John L. Bohanan serves as an adviser to Congressman Steny Hoyer.with an expertise in US military installations in Maryland and around the world. He represented the region surrounding NAS Patuxent River, headquarters of NAVAIR, while serving in the Maryland House of Delegates from 1998 to 2015.

Throughout his federal career, Mr. Bohanan has served in advisory positions to Southern Maryland’s congressman. By the early 1990s he was pivotal in the formation of the Southern Maryland Navy Alliance. In 1993, he joined the staff of  Congressman Steny H. Hoyer as district director. He stepped into a senior position on Congressman Hoyer’s team for BRAC, which brought over 5,000 new jobs to Southern Maryland, and kept the majority of jobs at Webster Field and St. Inigoes Naval Installation.

Del. Bohanan was named Senior Advisor to Congressman Hoyer in 2000, concentrating his efforts even more closely on military issues and enhancing the installations in Southern Maryland.
