Del. John Bohanan
Bohanan has spent his life in St. Mary’s County. Born and raised in Lexington Park and Park Hall, he attended Ryken High School and received his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration/Finance from Towson State University. He was involved in the formation of the Southern Maryland Navy Alliance in the early 1990s. In 1993, he returned to public service to work for Congressman Steny H. Hoyer, first as district director for the Fifth Congressional District. As District Director, John was a senior member of Hoyer’s team for BRAC, which brought over 5,000 new jobs to Southern Maryland, while keeping the majority of jobs at Webster Field and St. Inigoes Naval Installation. John was promoted to become Congressman Hoyer’s Senior Advisor in 2000, which allowed him to focus more closely on military issues for Hoyer and enhancing the installations in Southern Maryland.
