Higher Education Center Gets a New Name
For years, it was the Southern Maryland Higher Education Center. Today, the site that is dedicated to the advancement of education in the region is known as the University System of Maryland at Southern Maryland.

Navy Bases Foster Collaboration at Event
The immediate Southern Maryland area has three different US Navy bases, and on March 13, 2018, The Patuxent Partnership is sponsoring an event that aims to bring those three bases closer together in Collaboration.

The Patuxent Partnership is helping to publicize a Navy Innovation Marketplace, hosted by the Energetics Technology Center, from 8:30 am to 4 pm Feb. 7, 2018, at the Southern Maryland Higher Education Center.

The next film in the Global Cinema Series will be shown Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018, at the Southern Maryland Higher Education Center. The film will start at 6:30 pm and will be introduced by Jim Bershon. Admission is free.

Southern Maryland Higher Education Center has more than 80 bachelor’s completion, master’s and doctorate degrees, as well as certificates and certifications. New semester classes begin in January 2018.

Dignitaries Open Incubator at Airport
Congressman Steny H. Hoyer is urging Gov. Larry Hogan to capitalize on the exploding unmanned systems and robotics global markets and include funding to bring world-class higher education research to the area and support technology-based manufacturing in the region.
