Spiders: Scary or Helpful? Learn at AMG

The best way for children to learn about nature is to experience it, and Annmarie Sculpture Garden & Arts Center in Solomons, Maryland, offers fun and interesting ways to do just that with its Eco-Explorations.

On Oct. 16, 2015, Naturalist Hester Burch will take kids on an exploration of the natural world of spiders from 10 to 11 am. Participants will learn whether spiders are creepy crawlies that should be feared or they’re misunderstood helpers that are part of the ecosystem.

See the spiders in the garden and the webs they weave. Then, make a spider craft and help create a giant spider web.

The wildly popular Eco-exploration program is offered select Wednesdays this fall and winter—families are welcome.

Check out Annmarie’s Facebook page to see pictures of past explorations while learning about the upcoming topic for each new Eco-exploration!

No registration is required for eco-exploration events and participation is included with regular admission. If you are bringing a large group, please contact Ms. Burch so she can best be prepared. [email protected].
