Sabre Sponsors River Concert, Golf Tournament
St. Mary’s College of Maryland’s River Concert Series, winner of the Maryland Tourism Impact Award, was designed to provide the citizens of Southern Maryland with high quality, professional performances throughout the summer, enriching the cultural offerings of the region while raising the profile of Southern Maryland throughout the state.
The concert series, which this year ran from June 22 through July 27, included several different concerts, all of which were free and open to the public. In addition to the beautiful music, concert-goers enjoyed a wide variety of food, beverages, arts and crafts, and services from vendors.
Sabre was also a proud sponsor of the 20th Annual Charity Golf Tournament, which took place July 10 at the Breton Bay Golf and Country Club.
The event was hosted by the Lexington Park Rotary Club of Lexington Park, which raises funds to support charitable giving and scholarships in the local community.
The Rotary Club of Lexington Park, which adheres to the motto “Service Above Self,” is organized around five lanes of service, including International, Community, Vocational, Membership and Club Service. Recent Club charity activities have included purchasing and distributing 800 dictionaries to local third graders in 13 schools throughout St. Mary’s County, funding eight scholarships for returning college students and seven single award scholarships, sponsoring a Four Way Speech Contest for area high school students, supporting the Southern Maryland Group Study Exchange, sponsoring the College of Southern Maryland Money Smart Seminar, providing energy assistance for deserving families, supporting the Christmas turkey program, as well as supporting Rotary’s commitment to eradicate polio worldwide.
