One Night, One Act

The Newtowne Players will present a free preview performance of Field Guide to the North American Osprey, a one-act play by local playwright Trish Cole, Jan. 16 at 8 p.m. at Three Notch Theatre on 21744 South Coral Drive in Lexington Park.

Starring local actors Michael Bell and Missy Bell, Field Guide to the North American Osprey is about a couple grieving, watching and hoping on a journey together to find their own peace.

This preview show, open to the public, will include food and beverages before and after the performance. Doors open at 7 p.m., with the show beginning at 8 p.m.

The play will then represent The Newtowne Players at the Maryland Community Theatre Festival in Wye Mills, Md., Jan. 19 at 10 a.m. The Maryland Community Theatre Festival brings many of the most talented and creative community theater performers, writers, directors and technicians together from around the state to showcase their work. Donations to offset the cost of sending the show to the festival will be accepted Jan. 16.

Previously, The Newtowne Players have performed two of Cole’s other plays at the Maryland Community Theatre Festival: woman: revised and Butterfly.
