NAWCAD Overview Feb. 16 at SMHEC

The Patuxent Partnership will host a Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD) overview on Feb. 16 at the Southern Maryland Higher Education Center in California, Md.

RADM Dean Peters, NAWCAD commander and assistant commander for research and engineering (AIR 4.0) at Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR), and Leslie Taylor, NAWCAD executive director and deputy assistant commander for NAVAIR test and evaluation, will present an overview of NAWCAD initiatives, priorities, capabilities, and their alignment with NAVAIR mission and goals.

The briefing is scheduled for Tuesday, February 16, 2016, check-in and coffee at 7:30 am with the briefing from 8 to 9:30 am. The briefing will be held at the Southern Maryland Higher Education Center’s Building 2 Center Hall at 44219 Airport Road.

NAWCAD hosts unique research and development aircraft systems, laboratories, and test facilities. The division serves the needs of the US Navy, as well as other military services, federal agencies, foreign customers, and commercial entities.

NAWCAD is one of two product centers within Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) that partner with industry to deliver high-quality, affordable products in support of military operating forces worldwide. NAWCAD products and services include aircraft, avionics, air-launched weapons, electronic warfare systems, cruise missiles, unmanned aerial vehicles, launch and arresting gear, training equipment and facilities, and all air power equipment related to the Navy and Marine Corps.

The complex at Patuxent River includes research and engineering disciplines of systems engineering, air vehicles, propulsion, avionics, crew systems, and test and evaluation.

“This is a great opportunity for our members and the community to hear from NAWCAD leadership firsthand,” Bonnie Green, TPP executive director, said.

There is no cost for this NAWCAD overview program. Advance registration is requested.

TPP also promotes STEM education and workforce development within the community by hosting programs of interest to NAVAIR, NAWCAD, and the broader DoD community.
