CSt. Mary's County NAACPontinuing a successful initiative to introduce new minority teachers, administrators and support staff in St. Mary’s County Public Schools, St. Mary’s County NAACP will hold its annual “Meet & Greet” at Lexington Park Library Nov. 3 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Community representatives of organizations, churches and businesses take the opportunity to meet newly hired staff and have the opportunity to share information with veteran staff members about how their agencies interface with the schools and community.

Diversity among staff in the school system is improving. The minority staff population needs to continue to grow and be sustained. Each year, the St. Mary’s County Branch, NAACP takes the opportunity to show them that our community is welcoming and appreciative of the work they are doing to help all of our children.

This project is led by Janice Walthour, a retired principal from the St. Mary’s County Public Schools who continues to advance educational initiatives for the NAACP and St. Mary’s County.

General meetings of the St. Mary’s County NAACP are held the last Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the SMECO Building on Hollywood Road just north of downtown Leonardtown, Maryland. The public is welcome. For additional information contact the St. Mary’s County Branch NAACP at P.O. Box 189, Lexington Park, Maryland 20653 or call 301-863-3011.
