More to Explore is Back – Families Get Active!

Posted for Medstar St. Mary’s Hospital

Discover St. Mary’s County’s great outdoors and get active this summer through the FREE More to Explore passport program. Beginning June 21, pick up a More to Explore passport at any St. Mary’s County Public Library. The passport features historic sites, nature parks, walking tours – even a farmer’s market. The summer activity passport program runs through August 14, 2015, and you may pick up your passport at any time.

Some stops on the program map offer free or reduced admission to passport bearers. Find the site maker at each location, and then use a pencil, crayon, coin or rock to rub the location marker onto the site’s passport page. Earn an Explore Compass by visiting 10 of the 26 sites on the passport and enter into August drawings for larger prizes. This is a wonderful activity for children and families of all ages. Step outside and get some exercise this summer – there is always More to Explore!

The program is a grant and donor funded project of Healthy St. Mary’s Partnership’s Healthy Eating and Active Living (HEAL) action team. A partner to MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital, the HEAL team aims to bring community organizations and residents together to promote healthy eating and active living. For more information, visit the More to Explore Facebook page or contact Kerri Frank of MedStar St. Mary’s Health Connections department at 301-475-6184.
