Local Newspapers Digitized, Microfilm Cutting Reception

St. Mary’s County Board of Library Trustees is pleased to announce the library’s collection of local newspapers, which were previously available on microfilm at the Lexington Park Library, has been digitized and is now available to the public on any computer at the St. Mary’s County Libraries or St. Mary’s College Library.

This digitization project was completed with the support of the following community partners: Balance Imaging Solutions, LLC; The Enterprise and Post Community Media, LLC; St. Mary’s College of Maryland Library; St. Mary’s County Board of Library Trustees Endowment Funds; and St. Mary’s County Historical Society.

The collection contains “The Enterprise” from 1952 to present and “The Beacon” from 1922 to 1984 with a few gaps due to missing issues.

A “Microfilm Cutting” reception will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 19, at 4:00 pm at the Lexington Park Library to introduce and recognize the partners. A demonstration of the product is planned.
