DQ’s Coming, Rita’s is Leaving

A week after the Business Development e-Newsletter out of St. Mary’s County government announced a Dairy Queen is slated to open in the former Arby’s restaurant on Great Mills Road in Lexington Park, MD, the What’s Going Where? section of the newsletter announced that Rita’s Italian Ice will not open for a new season on Great Mills Road.
The closure of Rita’s is attributed to the lack of evening and weekend traffic since the closure of Gate 2 during nights and weekends. The closure has impacted numerous otherwise successful business in Lexington Park, MD, as well.
Other business changes upcoming in the Lexington Park – California, MD, area include:
- Global Community Pharmacy which has opened right next to Mr. Tire on Great Mills Road in Lexington Park.
- A dance and fitness studio slated to open in California.
- Elements Eatery & Mixology will soon be the new name of the Tides Restaurant in Lexington Park. Look forward to delicious additions to the menu as well!
- Blue Wind Gourmet, now under new ownership, will retain the current menu and commitment to featuring locally grown products.
- AT&T will relocate from its existing location near Blair’s Jewelry & Gifts to co-locate with the new Popeye’s Restaurant in the former Blockbuster Video store in California
Amish Heirloom Furniture closed in the Wildewood Shopping Center this January.
