CSM Seeks STEM Partners by April 1

Posted for College of Southern Maryland

The College of Southern Maryland is seeking STEM partners to help build a pipeline for future Science, Technology, Engineering and Math  professionals by providing education and awareness programs to Southern Maryland youth. The deadline to be included in this year’s Partners in STEM Education group is April 1, contact information and links are located below.

Through the support of  partnerships over the years, CSM has engaged, educated and employed highly skilled and competitive professionals. Leaders in our community are able to join in a collaborative effort to advance STEM programs within our region through partnerships with the three Southern Maryland counties’ public schools, industry leaders and naval installations. The benefits of partnership will support STEM outreach activities and allow CSM to:

  • Inspire young women through the Women + Math Initiative
  • Showcase the advancement of women in technology from the classroom to the boardroom by providing advocacy, leadership development, networking, mentors, and technology education
  • Identify and remove barriers to STEM educational and career opportunities: Increase STEM scholarships and improve career transition assistance programs for veterans and displaced workers
  • Provide internship and educational experiences for CSM students
  • Make available educational opportunities to academically talented students and reinforce full-time enrollment and degree achievement
  • Engage STEM novices
  • Increase STEM awareness and inspire K-12 students in the STEM field

Upcoming STEM events include the LEGO Robotics Championship scheduled for April 11, the Student Success Mid-Atlantic Regional Conference on April 17, Women+Math event on April 18, as well as Destination College; VEX Robotics, Engineer Like a Girl and Pretty Brilliant.
