Calvert St. Mary’s MPO to Meet Jan. 7

Calvert St. Mary's MPO

The Calvert-St. Mary’s Metropolitan Planning Organization will meet at 6 pm Jan. 7, 2016, at the Southern Maryland Higher Education Center.

The organization was formed when the 2010 US Census recognized the population in the Lexington Park – California – Chesapeake Ranch Estates region surpassed 50,000 (58,000).
The population triggered a federal classification of the region as an Urbanized Area (UZA), which requires creation of a Metropolitan Planning Organization to coordinate transportation planning that uses federal funds.
The commission’s agenda includes three draft transportation documents to be presented for review and approval, and the draft 2040 Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP) will be presented as well.
The Census-designated UZA boundaries are shown here. Adjustments to the district are indicated with the original areas in yellow and the expanded areas with green hatching:

The detailed agenda can be viewed here.
